Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAV) Camp

About the Camp

Self-driving cars, automated shuttles, teleoperations, programming, drones—these are just some of the exciting topics covered in the Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAV) Camp. In this one-week day camp, you will have the opportunity to learn about emerging CAV technology and explore career opportunities in a cutting-edge industry that is shaping the future of transportation.

During camp, you will:

  • See, touch, and experience automated vehicles
  • Take field trips to organizations working on CAV technology
  • Engage in learning activities with practitioners and University of Minnesota researchers

The camp is free to attend, and lunch is provided. Space is limited to 20 students.

Applicant Requirements

  • Students entering grades 10-12 in fall 2026
  • Students with an interest in automotive tech and maintenance, manufacturing, engineering, planning, or robotics

How to Apply

Students should complete the application for the 2026 CAV Camp by March 6, 2026. Students will be asked to submit the following materials along with their application:

  • An essay answering three required questions (see the online form for a list)
  • Their transcript or recent report card

Early applications recommended because applicants will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
